My Newsletter was based on the ingenious discovery of zero. Zero has made apearences and disapearences throughout early history. It's idea has existed for thousands years.
It says that zero, just like all other numbers, were thought of more concretely. Rather than in today's society, we think of numbers more abstractly. Numers in ancient were thought like how many cows a farmer has, how much you need to pay for some pork, etc.
The most interesting piece in the newsletter is the part where I mention some of the famous mathematicians who tried to adapt mathematics to zero. Bramhagupta, Mahavira, Bhaskara, werer famous ancient mathematicians who came up with three seperate conjections for zero in Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division. Ech of them trying to prove the formers opinion.

SERJ TANKIAN, 9/11 ESSAY
was written by Serj two days after the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. It caused a lot of controversy, particularly because many readers seemed to miss the message. Please understand, this essay is not attempting to justify the 9/11 attacks. When it was published, many mistook Serj's intentions and consequently denounced him, but if you pay attention to this small excerpt, it is impossible to say that Serj tried to justify the 9/11 attacks:
...my belief is that the terror will multiply if concrete steps are not taken to sponsor peace in the middle east, NOW. This does not mean that we should not find the guilty party(s), Bin Laden, or whoever they may be, and not try them. Put simply, as long as a major injustice remains, violence precipitates to the surface of life.
Keep an open mind when reading. This essay is an attempt at analyzing both side of the conflict and advocating universal peace; in no way is it saying Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, al-Qaeda, or any other terrorist organization or regime had reason to commit such horrific, intolerable acts of blatant murder.
This essay was originally published on systemofadown.com, but was promptly removed by Sony.
Understanding OilBy Serj Tankian9/13/2001
The brutal attacks/bombings this week in New York, and Washington D.C., along with threats of attacks there and elsewhere in the country have changed our times forever. While the mass media concentrates on the details of the destruction, and the blanketed words of politicians, I will attempt to understand and explain the events from the fence. BOMBING AND BEING BOMBED ARE THE SAME THINGS ON DIFFERENT SIDES OF THE FENCE.
Terror is not a spontaneous human action without credence. People just dont hijack planes and commit harikari (suicide) without any weight of thought to the action. No one in the media seems to ask WHY DID THESE PEOPLE DO THIS HORRIFIC ACT OF VIOLENCE AND DESTRUCTION?
To be able to understand the answer to this, we must first look at our U.S. Mideast Policy. During most of the 20th century, U.S. businesses have worked on attaining oil rights and concessions from countries in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. After WWI, secret back door deals by our State Dept. yielded oil rights from then defeated Turkey to fields in what is now Iraq and Saudi Arabia, in return for looking the other way at a crime against humanity, the Genocide of the Armenians by the Turks. Oil profits have been the motivating factors behind many attempts at counterinsurgency of democratic regimes by the CIA and the U.S in the Middle East (such as Iran in the 1950s, where the Shah replaced the Prime Minister who refused to give up oil rights to the U.S., and since the people couldnt deal with the Shah, an extremist government headed by the Ayatollah Khomeini ultimately prevailed). During the Iran-Iraq war, America supplied both sides with weapons and advice. These are not the actions of a rich superpower wanting peace. Lets not forget that Saddam Hussein, before being Americas vision of the Anti-Christ, was a close ally of the U.S., and the CIA. So what was the firm belief system of consecutive American administrations that caused all this to occur ? PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST WILL LEAD TO HIGHER OIL AND GASOLINE PRICES. Lets not also forget the power of the Arms industry, disguised as defense, that still sells billions of dollars of weapons to the area. Therefore it has not been in the short-term economic interest of the U.S. to foster Peace in the Middle East. Using the above reasoning, the U.S. has encouraged extremist governments, toppled democracies, as in the case of Iran to replace it with a monarchy, rigged elections, and many more unspeakable political crimes for U.S. businesses abroad. Lets not also forget the Red Scare. During the war between the then Soviet Union and Afghanistan, the U.S. armed and supported the Taliban, a fundamentalist Muslim organization, and allowed them to export opium and heroin out of their country to pay for those weapons. Therefore the Taliban rose to power and control with the help of the U.S.A. Today, the bombing of Iraq still continues, no longer covered by the media, the economic embargo still remains, killing millions of children, and recently, while the world and the U.N. General Assembly have cried out to bring in peacekeeping forces into Israel and Palestine, to end the escalated war and recent assassinations, the U.S. has vetoed the rest of the Security Council and has halted the possibility of peace, there, in the most volatile place in the world.
People in Serbia, Lebanon, Iraq, Sudan, and Afghanistan to name a few have seen bombs fall, not always at military targets and kill innocent civilians, as the scene in New York city yesterday. The wars waged by our government in our names has landed smack in the middle of our living room. The half hour of destruction closed down all world financial markets, struck the central headquarters of our military, and had our leaders running into bunkers, and our citizens into fear and frenzy. What scares me more than what has occurred is what our reactions to the occurrences may cause. President Bush belongs to a long generation of Republican Presidents who love war economies. The media has only concentrated on the bombings, if you will, and what type of retaliations are looming for the perpetrators. What everyone fails to realize is that the bombings are a reaction to existing injustices around the world, generally unseen to most Americans. To react to a reaction would be to further sponsor the reaction. In other words, my belief is that the terror will multiply if concrete steps are not taken to sponsor peace in the middle east, NOW. This does not mean that we should not find the guilty party(s), Bin Laden, or whoever they may be, and not try them. Put simply, as long as a major injustice remains, violence precipitates to the surface of life.
Native American folklore, the Bible, Nostradamus, and many other major religious beliefs point to this era with the visuals of yesterdays disasters, and conditions of ecological disasters we experience daily in our lives today. War, rumors of war, famine, long burning fires, etc., are at our doorstep. We can prevail over this possible vision with the power of the human spirit, understanding, compassion, and peace. ITS TIME TO PUT OUR NEEDS FOR SECURITY AND SURVIVAL, ACHIEVED ONLY THROUGH PEACE, ABOVE AND BEYOND PROFITS, ESPECIALLY IN THESE TIMES.
SOLUTION:
The U.S. should stop sidestepping the U.N. Security Council, and allow U.N. Peacekeeping troops and missions to the Middle East. Stop the violence first. Stop the bombing and patrol of Iraq.
With todays gains in the use of alternative fuels, develop them to full usage with autos and other utilities, to make the country less dependant on an already depleting natural reserve, oil.
By initiating peace, we would have already shaken the foundations of support for Bin Laden, and/or all those that sponsor activities like those we saw yesterday, and break the stronghold of extremists on the world of Islam. On the other hand, if we carry out bombings on Afghanistan or elsewhere to appease public demand, and very likely kill innocent civilians along the way, wed be creating many more martyrs going to their deaths in retaliation against the retaliation. As shown from yesterdays events, you cannot stop a person whos ready to die.

Purpose of Government II
Purpose of Government II
Freedom or Security, one of the most conflicted questions in our society. This societal game of “tug-o-war” has always been off balance. When the Framers were writing the Constitution, they knew they had to think of a way to keep these two dissenting philosophy’s balanced. So they wrote the Constitution, hoping that that it would resolve society’s conflicts. The question is, though, is “does it work?” In our iDeal society, many problems arose from the iChip. People were so outraged by it, they started terrorizing country. It’s times like these when the Constitution really comes into play.
For example, in our iDeal society, the citizens were outraged by President Mink’s violation of constitutional rights and her suspected terrorist attacks on the country. They wrote a petition of grievances, and worked with their representatives to get the president impeached. Practicing their First Amendment right to protest showed their true value of their freedoms. Although they did not accomplish getting her impeached, the use of the Constitution is what drove most government decisions. If the people couldn’t use the Constitution to their advantage, the people would never have attained so much power.
Another instance is when the Executive Brach took the initiative and wrote a bill that would reinstate citizens’ 4th amendment right to privacy. This bill was proposed to Congress, and, thanks to them, it was passed immediately. This pleased our citizens, since it promised them the same protection they had before the iChip. After that, the problems that were caused by the iChip were beginning to wither.
However, some problems still floated among the people. President Mink, being the Founder and C.E.O. of Apple Corp., was sued after one of its customers, Malik Cooper, tragically died from what was believed to be iChip related brain problems. His family and the rest of America took their chance to stand up against the government and its corporate oppressors. After a long, tedious trial; apple won the trial with a unanimous vote. Although it seemed like a major blow to the people, it actually was the most influential things they did. Knowing that their product is, in a way, potentially lethal, they took action in screening out all possible malfunctions; making it safer and within the constitutional boundries.
In conclusion, the citizens had the greatest influence on the country than any other group of people. Our government looked out for the people, and if something was wrong with them, the government made sure it was fixed. The citizens had all the power; thanks to national public opinion, constitutional rights, and lawful influence, they were able to balance out freedom and security. The most important thing to consider when deciding what is more important, freedom or security; is who exactly you are securing yourself from.

My Argument for Constitutional Convention
I have my whole argument ready, but I still need to type it. I'll have it in by tomorrow.
For now, Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Romero, could you kind of go over my argument when I do post it?

MARRIAGE IS NOT A PRIVILEGE, IT IS A RIGHT!
I don't seem to understand how the corporate @#$%!s of our government think that just because two people are of the same sex, means that they can't get married.
I have a gay cousin, and he gave me the straight foorward on the whole situtation. He told me, first off, that he did NOT CHOOSE to be gay, and that if he had the option, he would have chosen to be straight. He said "I don't understand where people are getting the idea that it is a choice. I ask them if they remember choosing to be straight." So the belief that gay people "chose" to be who they are, would also mean that we are all bisexual.
Why is it that two people who love eachother can't get married? Don't they deserve the same rights as everyone else? A priest told me that "the bible says it is an 'abomination'". Yeah, the bible also says that slavery is right and women are inferior to men, but those concepts are out of the question. So why do we base our prejudice on something like religion?
As for the thought that it would ruin the sanctity of the family, I say @#$% you! Gay parents have raised children to be just as stuctually sound as any other children. Also, apparently, gay parents raise all their children to be gay. Then how come my cousin, who has strait parents, is gay? I'll tell you why, @#$%head, because people are BORN gay. Not raised, not chosen, but BORN. Is that such a difficult concept for the kid-raping priests and money-stealing republicans to get through there thick, corrupt skulls? Why must we prejudice people?
If gay people could adopt children, that would make the "pro-life" people happier than ever, if they weren't such @$$holes. Think about it: is it fair that children, who are desperate for parents, have potential ones driven away? NO! So for your anti-abortion ideas, you contradict it with your anti-gay ideas.
THIS IS NOT EQUALITY! These people have just the same right to get married as all other people do. MARRIAGE IS NOT A PRIVILEGE, IT IS A RIGHT!

POG II
My POG II is based around what happened in our iDeal society simulation. From the impeaching of the president to writing the "tehnological limitations" bill; our society was full of contridiction. In my POG II, I illustrated the contridiction that plagued our society and how we fixed it. Thanks to the citizens' understanding of the Constitution, we accomplished getting closer and closer to our goal.

Finished my iChip Science Project
Our iChip was called the iMaChip. I.M.A stands for the initials of the names of our team. (Ian, Malik, Ashley) I didn't do it cause my name came first, we did it because it sounded like someone was saying "I'm a Chip".
The iMaChip can do almost anything. It can record your thoughts and the things you hear. It can also take the images of what you see, all in your thought. It can transfer all this information to your computer. You know longer have to type essays, now, you can think them.
Think of the advantages in having this for college students, business, and senior citizens. All of the information, traveling faster than ever before.

My Philosaphy of Government
My Philosaphy on Government is a Liberal Socialist Democracy. I believe that a government needs to keep up with the changing times, and that it's people need to force their government to do that. I believe that medication needs to be socialized, so that all people can have medication, rich or poor. Finally, I believe that all people need to be directly involved with their government, to help make it better for them.
